Surfing Equipment

The first recorded event of surfing was dated back in 1779 by Lieutenant James King, in the island of Hawaii. Surfing was a way of life for the people of Hawaii, a spiritual affair. A Kahuna (priest/sorcerer) would chant special chants for the building of a surfboard. Surfboards were made out of wood; commonly from the wili wili, ula, and koa trees. These surfboards stood as tall as 16 feet long, weighed approximately 75 lb, and had no fins or leashes. Can you imagine surfing with that kind of surf equipment today?
